Javier Fernandez

Javier Fernandez founded his full-service interior design firm Transitional Designs in 2003 and has since worked on a multitude of design projects in New York, New Jersey, Florida, and beyond. Fernandez creates polished, timeless interiors that are as beautiful as they are functional. His design style is transitional, blending clean lines, sleek profiles, and a more modern aesthetic with traditional details. Fernandez’s passion for design took root during his childhood, manifesting in sketches of furniture and floor plans as well as the rearrangement of his family’s furniture. As a young teen, Fernandez began working for his family’s home décor store, an experience he credits for instilling him with the values of hard work, customer service, and an awareness of design’s importance. The store’s clients grew to depend upon his discerning eye and asked for assistance with furniture selection and placement and eventually full interior design services. Fernandez’s career as a designer quickly took off. Today, central to Fernandez’s design ethos, is that every client’s needs are as nuanced and unique as the individuals themselves. This is matched with his firm's belief that everything is possible, a recipe for success that has led him to design homes and commercial spaces that surpass the client’s design visions and goals. Fernandez was born in Cuba before emigrating to the United States. He lives in New York and Florida with his wife and business partner Maritza. Transitional Designs’ work has been featured in shelter and lifestyle outlets including Veranda.com, Galerie.com, HGTV blogs, Bergen Magazine, 201 Magazine, VUE, among others. Fernandez was selected to participate in the prestigious Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach 2020 and the Hampton Designer Showhouse 2020.
